I agree that the question becomes more difficult as you move from medium-sized organisations to large corporate institutions, however I’m still not sold on Tableau in this case.

Sure, Tableau may be able to handle some more difficult questions, but it still can’t answer all of them. I found that the tricky questions people had could still not easily be setup in Tableau, in which case we need to turn to our data analysts to provide bespoke solutions. Maybe there’s a sweet spot in-between, but I’m not sure.

Let’s see how Google DataStudio continues to grow and how the others react!

I think an interesting area that will become more prominent soon is integrating AI into report preparation / monitoring. Already Google Analytics is starting to intelligently prepare reports for you based on what it is observing in the data and what it thinks you’ll be interested in. I don’t think it’s a big stretch for Google to migrate this service into DataStudio so competitors will need to be wary.
